Kim Kardashian Reveals She Suffers from Anxiety: ‘I Want to Take Back My Life’
On Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner open up about their struggles with anxiety.
The episode started off with Kim revealing to her friend Jonathan Cheban that she’s been having issues with anxiety when she’s driving.
“I’ve been having anxiety lately,” Kim admitted. “I am not this person.”
She then has a sit-down with her mom about her and Kendall’s recent medical concerns — the model is suffering from sleep paralysis and is afraid to fly alone on a plane.
“My mind does go crazy,” Kim told Kris Jenner.
“When you get into your own head it’s scary and you don’t want to let it get to the next step,” Kris responded. “That’s debilitating… and you can’t live life.”
“It’s really ironic that Kim and Kendall are going through similar things,” the 60-year-old told the camera during her interview. “Maybe there’s a way they can help each other manage their anxiety.
“I think we should find somebody for you two to talk to,” Kris told Kim. “So this doesn’t get bigger than it already is.”
Later in the episode, a therapist came over to meet with both Kim and Kendall to discuss their symptoms and personal anxieties.
“I really pride myself in fully having my s*** together all the time,” Kim told the camera. “With how bad things are with Kendall, she has to get this under control.”
During the session, Kendall revealed to the doctor that she’s been having issues flying and with panic attacks, but when the therapist tried to teach her coping skills, the 21-year-old model wasn’t having it.
As for Kim, she told the therapist that her anxiety hits her hard when she’s driving.
“I think about it all the time, it drives me crazy,” Kim admitted. “I just want to get passed my anxiety and live life… I never had anxiety and I want to take back my life.”
So, the pair set out for a drive.
During the trip, the 36-year-old faced her fears and worked on the coping mechanisms that the therapist taught her and soon was able to drive without worrying as much.
As for Kendall’s issues with panic attacks, Kim tried to get her younger sister to take back control of her life, so she suggested she try meditating in preparation of her upcoming trips.
In the final scene, the sisters worked with an instructor and took a meditation class together outside on Kim’s lawn.
“Some people live by it, and because there’s no cure for anxiety you have to get control of your feelings,” Kim told her. “You have to get a hold of it.”
