Only two points may
separate them in La Liga, but Real Madrid have outstripped rivals
Barcelona when it comes to the battle of who owns the most expensive
Audis.
The two Spanish heavyweights
have signed sponsorship deals with the German car manufacturer, which
has given each player a new car to promote their brand as part of the
arrangement.
A selection of players
from both clubs were allowed to choose from a range of vehicles from the
car company, and the breakdown of each squad's preferences revealed it
was Real who boasted the more extravagant fleet, with a total value
of £2,363,866 compared to Barcelona's £1,373,215.

Although the
Real squad were given 25 cars compared to Barca's 22, their choices
still work out as considerably more expensive, with the most popular
choice across the teams being the Audi Q7, an all-terrain model the car
company is keen to promote this year.
Madrid
boss Zinedine Zidane joined superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in breaking
against the trend, opting for a pricier model, taking a shine to the
Audi RS 6 - which fetches £127,860.
In
one third of the cases, the Madrid players have the option of keeping
their choice of vehicle once the season is at an end, and Zidane's side
are currently in pole position in La Liga.
Both
Real and Barcelona have been going through the gears this term,
alongside perennial title contenders Atletico Madrid, with Real
currently two points clear at the summit ahead of Luis Enrique's men.
Real's 50 goals in all
competitions makes them the highest scorers in Europe's top five
leagues, and with Champions League ties looming against Sporting Lisbon
and Borussia Dortmund after the international break, Zidane will hope
his troops lose none of their competitive streak around the corner.
The
players were back out on the training field in Valdebebas on Saturday
morning ahead of the league game against Leganes - which presents the
side with the chance to temporarily extend their lead at the top.
Pepe,
who was all smiles as he tested out his brand new car, is likely to
miss out against the La Liga strugglers as he steps up his fitness
following a hamstring injury, meaning Raphael Varane and Nacho are
likely to partner each other once more in the centre of defence.
Mateo
Kovacic impressed in scoring late on to rescue a point in the draw
at Legia, and is expected to be handed another opportunity to stake a
claim for a regular berth in the continued absence of Luka Modric in
midfield.
