Paris Saint-Germain join Chelsea in the race to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and add to star-studded strike force at Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain have joined Chelsea in the race for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez.

The French champions want to team Sanchez with Edinson Cavani and Angel di Maria in a talented attacking line-up as they push to make a greater impression on the Champions League next season.

The 28-year-old has one year left on contract and Arsenal are aware of interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea but would rather sell abroad if they have to.

PSG have a long held interest in Sanchez, they have already sounded out the Chile striker's representatives and hope to hold further talks later this month.

Arsenal are expected to overhaul their squad this summer and the scale of their recruitment may yet go some way to convincing Sanchez whether to stay.

The former Barcelona star told media in his homeland last week that he expected to see out his contract at Arsenal and wanted to stay in London 'but for a team with a winning mentality'.

'I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract with Arsenal. Hopefully Arsenal can push to win the big titles,' he told El Grafico.
However, with his value diminishing Arsenal may take the gamble of cashing in this summer rather than risk him running down his contract and leaving for nothing.
